Translation

As a written translator, my work has spanned Daoist metaphysical texts to Slavic folktales.

I believe in an approach to written translation that balances bringing the reader to the text more with bringing the text to the reader. I seek to contextualize and explain historical, literary, and cultural ideas without taking the reader too far out of the original text. Sometimes, some rearranging or additional translator’s notes are needed to clarify and make the passage feel more natural in the target language, but I aim to be as modest with my interjections as is practical.
